Our Executive Director

Julie Shifman

JulieMs. Shifman has an extensive and varied background. After graduating from law school and receiving a masters in tax law from New York University, she practiced in New York for several years. She moved to Cincinnati and became a partner in the law firm of Thompson Hine focusing her practice on consulting to non-profits and corporate planning. Ms. Shifman was also an adjunct professor of business at the Xavier University Graduate Business School. In 2000, Ms. Shifman founded Shifman & Associates, a business consulting firm focusing on the needs of area non-profits and family businesses. As a consultant, she created and ran EXCEL (EXecutive Curriculum for Emerging Leaders) a year long program for non-profit leaders. In 2008, she became the Executive Director of Josh Cares.

Ms. Shifman is actively involved in the Cincinnati community. She recently served as the chairperson for the city of Cincinnati’s celebration of the 350th Anniversary of Jews Coming to America. She also served as the Chairperson of the Board of Talbert House, (the largest social service agency in Southern Ohio), and as a trustee of the Hebrew Union College. She was also the Chair of the Tax Section of the Cincinnati Bar Association. She is currently a trustee of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, the Talbert House and the Cincinnati Ballet Company.

Ms. Shifman is married to Steve Shifman, President of Michelman, Inc. and the mother of four sons.
